Culture And Memory
Dartmoor Calling - Dartmoor Preservation Association and Clapham Film Unit will be working in partnership on this project. We plan to recruit and train diverse volunteers to record oral histories with the people who have campaigned to save Dartmoor from development from the 1940s to 2024. Volunteers will also collect the stories of people who have been restoring nature on Dartmoor since 1999, making the link between saving the land, protecting the environment and restoring nature. The gathered stories will be transcribed and stored in the archive at Dartmoor Preservation Association. They will be used to create a documentary which will share the heritage via broadcast on TogetherTV, online and at screenings with Q and A sessions at Exeter Phoenix. We will engage under 25s from the LGBTQ+ community to record some of the stories. This heritage will be gathered and shared during the 75th anniversary of the National Park.
