Deaf Connect

Deaf individuals have excelled in sports, including the Olympics, and young Deaf people wish to connect with these inspiring stories of overcoming adversity. Our 3-year, Cross-Border, Deaf-led project aims to collect, preserve, and share Deaf sports history, enhancing participants' confidence and community awareness. Young Deaf individuals will engage with accomplished sports people to capture their stories, develop oral history skills, and receive training in interview and film-making techniques. We will host showcases at the end of each year to present current work. These films will be featured on our website, social media sites and archived at North West Film Archives. An external evaluator will assist in creating evaluation reports, enabling participants to reflect on barriers and envision their future. The project will be led by two profoundly Deaf coordinators who will train Deaf young people in essential skills for research, project management, writing, editing, filming, and publishing.
