Culture And Memory

Deaf Perspectives, Past, Present and Future

We would like to create a series of short films inspired by Deaf History in Suffolk. We will work with deaf and hearing young people from two local high schools to create the films, providing them with opportunities to develop new skills and develop their confidence and sense of belonging. The project will introduce the young participants to positive deaf role models who are at a variety of different stages of life. Topics we want to explore include education for deaf children, working life for deaf people, how technology has changed, and attitudes towards deafness. The project will provide opportunities for the young participants to share their own experiences and be part of the movement for improved rights and opportunities for deaf people in the future.
