Devonport 200 – marking the 200th anniversary of the founding of Devonport

2024 is the 200th anniversary of the founding of Devonport, a community that has experienced profound change and is still viewed as a “problem place”. Through Devonport 200, our aim is to celebrate local communities; address negative perceptions; explore complex heritage; create civic pride and bring much needed visitors - local and beyond - to Devonport.? Through Devonport 200, people will unearth and tell stories that have shaped the place they live in. For some, it will be their family history and the role their ancestors played; for others the stories of arrival, of the many diverse communities that now make up the place they chose to call home.? We hope Devonport 200 will permanently change perceptions. Devonport is full of amazing heritage that Devonport 200 will make visible, especially to those from other parts of the city and wider area, creating connections, generating civic pride, and bringing economic benefit.?
