Discovering Seaton’s Changing Jurassic Past, and Future

The successful ‘Travels through Heritage and the Axe Valley' Heritage Fund project improved experiences along the Tramway route, worked with many partners, and positively affected many people. The newly opened Jurassic Discovery in Seaton operated by Modern Electric Tramways Ltd (MET) will be the focus of new initiatives based on the project lessons learnt. We will develop an exciting integrated environment-based visitor experience linking Jurassic Discovery with Seaton Tramway with broader links to the town, river, beach, cliffs and inland to Seaton Wetlands and the historic town of Colyton. We will develop: formal and informal learning working closely with specialist organisations, local schools and colleges. our existing partnerships providing opportunities for organisations supporting people with mental health problems, socially isolated older people, and caring responsibilities. opportunities to improve our local environment through the Jurassic Discovery Garden and wider tramway estate. new volunteering, apprenticeship opportunities and work experience for young people.
