Discovery First Look

First Look will complete a suit of three refurbished galleries on the 1st floor of Discovery Museum. By reconfiguring the current ‘Working Lives’ permanent gallery into a new flexible exhibition space we will showcase collections not currently on display due to space limitations. The new gallery will be capable of accepting high profile exhibitions and loans from national or international organisations - allowing us to position local stories within a global context, significantly enhancing the stories these collections hold for all visitors. Our primary aim is to support the visitor journey by helping children build on their learning as they move from the newly installed Under 5s area into the new gallery, the Science Maze, and the wider museum. We want families to feel confident to progress from the early years space to the First Look gallery, deepening their understanding of collections and nurturing a life-long love for museums.
