Culture And Memory
Escape2Make will immerse young people in their local heritage via a programme of free creative workshops focusing on the creative and cultural history of Lancashire. This will result in a free, interactive, youth-led festival in partnership with historic venues across Lancaster, with young participants sharing their interpretation of local heritage with the wider community. Young people will learn about Lancaster and Morecambe’s rich creative heritage, through hands-on experiences of performance, woodwork, lino-printing, stained glass making, and more, keeping practices alive, whilst broadening participants’ skill-sets, improving their mental health and making a difference in their local community. We will collaborate with Lancaster City Museums, the Lancaster Black History group and other Lancashire museums to craft a project where authentic artistic practices are passed on to the next generation. This project makes local heritage accessible and exciting for young people, which is crucial to its future safeguarding and legacy.
