Nature And Landscape

Explore Mottistone: A Gateway to the Isle of Wight’s Coastal Heritage

We envision a vibrant, inclusive gateway to the Isle of Wight’s most treasured landscapes—where everyone can confidently take their first steps into nature and heritage. Through a new accessible, year-round heritage gateway at Mottistone, with layered interpretation, community activities, safe accessible walking trails we will open up opportunities for exploration, learning, and connection. As the landscape becomes publicly accessible for the first time, the gateway will include the indoor space and support that many groups need to participate safely and meaningfully. This 3 year project will safeguard the island’s rich natural and cultural heritage, from ancient chalk grasslands and rare species to historic monuments and farming traditions. By blending conservation with sustainability and inclusion, we aim to create a place that celebrates the past, enriches the present, and secures the future—ensuring that nature, beauty, and history are protected and enjoyed by everyone, for generations to come.
