Eyez from the Future - Gloucester’s Breaking Community: Past and Present

Eyez from the Future will use Breaking’s inclusion in the 2024 Olympics as a catalyst to engage Gloucester’s residents with its rich historical connections and this engaging and accessible art form. Our project aims to achieve: Lasting legacy in Gloucestershire Archives, preserving the rich history of the city’s role in Breaking in the UK. Connect new and diverse communities with Breaking and its history Change perceptions of what heritage is and how people connect with it, particularly with young people Place Gloucester in global history of breaking, developing local pride Our project will: Research and capture stories from communities and residents involved in breakings past Engage national and international participants with connections to Gloucester Develop research skills of participants, working with Gloucester Heritage Hub to document stories Create a breaking exhibition with film, photos and stories Create a breaking jam session that connects the dance with its long term history.
