Fashion and Identity Oral History Project

We are a community of people from African's heritage. Our diversity is our strength and we work tirelessly to build and promote community cohesion. we use fashion as a way to promote, preserve and explore our history, culture, traditions and identity. Traditional clothing such as Kinta are symbols of spirituality, identity and community in the African society. it is also a form of self-expression and identity with a specific meaning and are often wore for special occasions passed down through generations, preserving our stories and history. The project focuses on the heritage of East African women to explore our identity through the lenses of fashion.
