Culture And Memory

Fight For Freedom, Carshalton and Wallington's War.

Our project aims to collect as much local information as possible about the lives and impact that World War 2 had on the residents of Carshalton and Wallington. There is still a lot of original evidence available which we wish to capture and preserve before it gets forgotten or destroyed. We will be looking at both the Home Front and residents that fought or worked elsewhere. There will be a particular emphasis on the role of women during this period. The information gathered will be used as an archive for further research, exhibitions, website and to inspire artistic interpretation of this period.
