Culture And Memory
Crane Creatives Coast (CCC) seeks to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural traditions of Eastern European (EE) communities in the UK while fostering social cohesion and cultural understanding. In collaboration with craftsmen and traditional folk leaders, we will host a week-long programme of summer holiday workshops and oral history recordings at Newark House Museum, Leicester. These activities will provide EE families with a platform to practise and share their heritage, while inviting the wider community to engage with and appreciate this vibrant culture. Personal stories and cultural experiences will be documented through facilitated conversations by professional historian, creating an archive of recorded oral histories. This content will be showcased on our website, ensuring wide engagement and long-term accessibility. The legacy of this project will be a stronger, more inclusive community, enriched by the preservation of EE traditions and the formation of sustainable connections between diverse groups and cultural institutions.
