Culture And Memory
Embroidery is an international language and for centuries has been a compelling medium for storytelling, self-expression, and empowerment. Embroiderers throughout history have picked up needles to share important messages about pressing issues of their day. Taking inspiration from the world around them, embroiderers have established a shared sense of purpose while enjoying a creative practice with proven mental health benefits. Nature has inspired extraordinary embroidery heritage. Fragile Threads is the RSN’s call to tackle the fragility of our natural world and ongoing species loss. By collaborating with partner organisations, we will empower a diverse range of people to learn new skills and tell their biodiversity stories through embroidery. By sharing the impacts on their lives through curated events, it will raise awareness, understanding and challenge behaviour to help protect our natural resources. Our legacy will be the inspiration for change and heritage we create, and the world we leave behind.
