FROM 2 BANKS OF CONGO RIVER TO UNESCO'S INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY & IN UK DANCE FLOORS: THE ROOTS, THE MUSIC & THE PEOPLE"

Project aims to: 1. Preserve and promote the rich musical heritage of Congolese Rumba, a genre that has a profound impact on the cultural landscape of Congolese communities and beyond. 2. Develop an Oral History by exploring, recording and sharing the histories/memories of Congolese Rumba musicians, dancers, producers, & promoters in West Midlands/UK. 2. Foster cross-cultural exchange and dialogue, celebrating the diversity and interconnectedness of global music traditions through: A) a 3-month educational paintings exhibitions by visual artists from both Congos. B) Congolese rumba drumming workshops, 2 live concerts featuring Birmingham Congolese Youth Ensemble, All Female Congolese Rumba Orchestra, & others on International Jazz Week, & International Music Day. 3) Actively engage with Congolese communities in the West-Midlands/UK to empower them in preserving and transmitting their cultural heritage. Through inclusive and collaborative approaches, we seek to foster a sense of pride, ownership among community members in safeguarding their traditions.
