Culture And Memory

Fuaran

Fuaran will contribute to the preservation and revitalisation of traditional Scottish Gaelic heritage. It will engage young Gaelic speakers aged 16-25 with tradition bearers, archives and other resources to collect and engage with local heritage material and ensure it remains live within communities. The Fuaran website will be redesigned and a user friendly, free to use digital platform will host the findings of their research, making available some of Scotland’s intangible cultural heritage including Gaelic songs, local stories, traditional folklore, place names as well as examples of local Gaelic dialects and traditions. Young Gaelic speakers will develop skills that will help them go on to work in heritage sector jobs and become confident tradition bearers of the future. New generations will have the opportunity to engage with Gaelic heritage more easily and inspire many to re-enliven practices of performing and passing on traditional heritage.
