Nature And Landscape
Tewkesbury Nature Reserve (TNR) needs to step-change three interconnected domains of its work to transform its care of the Reserve’s natural heritage. (1) Transforming eco-stewardship by local communities: delivered through a progressive behaviour change programme that promotes learning for sustainability and increased care of nature. Delivery of TNR’s Learning/Outreach Strategy requires inspirational, longitudinal engagement of diverse local communities, attending to access/inclusion. Providing stability for TNR’s Learning and Outreach/Team-leader post would transform quality of TNR’s delivery, while supporting development of new groups: Lead Volunteers and Community Nature Guardians. (2) Transforming citizen science monitoring: would deliver valuable, locally-owned, scientific data to underpin evidence-based, risk-informed, reserve management, and create a larger, better trained and more motivated volunteer base to play key roles in TNR. (3) Transforming governance: involves strengthening TNR’s organisational resilience (environmental, social, governance) and upskilling trustees, other volunteers and staffing, with major benefits for natural heritage and communities the charity serves.
