#Grow – Growing Butterfly Conservation’s Youth Workforce
Having established a Youth Panel during the Test phase, Butterfly Conservation (BC) enters the ‘Grow’ phase in a stronger position to tackle our workforce challenge: the under-representation of young people (14-25 years of age) among our volunteers. The Youth Panel will lead our approach to the engagement of young people, tackling how to involve them in our work through new volunteering opportunities and how to retain their interest and support. Having tested different ways of working with our Panel and now understanding the processes we need to underpin this work, we are poised to implement the actions identified by the Panel. The legacy of this project will be the permanent fixture of a Youth Panel within the organisation, new ways of working for our staff and a growing and thriving (and increasingly diverse) young volunteer workforce that bolsters our ability to deliver our strategic aims.
