Culture And Memory

Growing Communities

Ein Cegin is seeking funding to run a series of community cookery workshops bringing deprived and vulnerable families together to explore their food history, gathering food stories and celebrating our local food heritage. The project will help prevent the loss of traditional food knowledge and practices, enabling families to connect with the natural environment through use of local community growing spaces. We want to help tackle the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions and challenge the homogenization of our diets. Our aim is to grow local Welsh grain on a small scale in community gardens, in order to deepen our connection with food and provide a practical educational experience for our local community. We will work with local bakers, millers, growers, artists and musicians to weave together an exploration and celebration of food heritage, art and Welsh language.
