Twine is the invisible thread that binds our community together. Growing Futures brings together research, creative and community activity that will be showcased at Dawe's Twineworks as part of a programme of events including Od Arts Festival 2025. We anticipate a large and diverse audience, in excess of 1000 visits, of which over 60% are expected to be first time visitors, bringing the history and heritage of this unique location and industry to a whole new audience. Invited researchers, artists and workshop leaders will bring new perspectives, linking the history of flax, twine and sail production at Dawe’s Twineworks with the future possibilities for this industry. Research and community activities will be focused around ideas of growth, production and consumption in relation to the global climate emergency. This is both locally relevant and globally significant and provides multiple entry points for creative engagement from researchers, artists, participants and visitors.
