Growing Well - Branching Out

Growing Well at Tebay Services will deliver a pioneering native tree propagation scheme, empowering over 8000 participants with essential heritage conservation skills while supporting community mental health. Participants will learn seed collection and propagation techniques, cultivating 20,000 native tree whips annually by year three. They’ll gain expertise in sustainable land use, woodland management and conservation practices. The whips will be planted in significant nature recovery sites, reinforcing the ecological integrity of the region. Skills acquired will contribute to the immediate success of the project but will equip participants with valuable expertise that can be applied in future heritage and conservation initiatives. Participants will also be involved in interpreting the cultural and ecological significance of Cumbria’s natural heritage as the project culminates with a public exhibition at Rheged, championing sustainable nature recovery. Ultimately, the project leaves a lasting legacy, safeguarding Cumbria’s natural heritage and enhancing participants' skills and wellbeing.
