Nature And Landscape
The project supports a foundation for restoration of dilapidated horticultural workshops within a thriving community garden. Whilst trustees, volunteers and members hoped since the group’s inception in 2014 to restore the whole space (a disused council plant nursery and works depot), agreement on security of tenure has taken time to negotiate. A lease on the land signed in 2022 opened opportunities for revenue funding which has been accessed and used to great effect. The supplementary Agreement to Lease completed on 29 July 2024 opens options for capital investment. We recognise the organisational challenge of extending activity into a major building project whilst sustaining success and support garnered over eight years of community service. We want to safeguard strengths whilst extending our scope. The foundation project’s legacy will be to launch development and delivery of a rebuild and ensure that all is in place for the buildings to be well-used.
