Culture And Memory

Her Stories of Wirral

Our vision is to uncover, celebrate and preserve the histories of women who shaped Wirral’s communities but remain largely untold. Through her project 'Her Stories of Wirral' and the creation of staging of two original plays, we want to change how local heritage is understood - making it more inclusive, visible and relevant today. This work will focus on two narratives: Edith Smith and Catherine Ah Tam and her family. We envision this project as both a celebration of local heritage and a platform for inclusive storytelling. Beyond the performances, we aim to create a legacy of greater community awareness and appreciation for these pioneering women, fostering a sense of pride and understanding in our shared heritage. Staged at local heritage sites across Wirral, these performances will draw attention to Wirral’s historical richness, vibrancy and diversity offering a unique cultural and creative experience for all.
