Heritage Growth

Our project aims to explore and preserve the childhood experiences of black children raised in Igbo Land (Nigeria) and the UK during the 1970s and 1980s. Through oral history interviews, community-led research, and creative film production, we will document and compare cultural upbringing, education, family life, and identity. Volunteers will gain skills in heritage research, filmmaking, and archiving, while communities will reconnect with shared stories. The final outputs including a short documentary, booklet, and exhibition will increase public understanding of diasporic childhoods and help bridge generational knowledge gaps. This project will give voice to underrepresented communities and create a lasting cultural record.
