How We Lost America

Aurora Metro Arts & Media are proposing a touring exhibition called ‘How We Lost America’, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Working with six venues, including museums, heritage sites, community centres and local bookshops, we would like to design and tour a series of pop-up banners. The exhibition will be installed at each venue for 3-4 weeks each, offering our visitors free access to a diverse perspective on this historic anniversary. Alongside this exhibition, we would like to engage our audiences through different media, including historian talks, and performances of Howard Ginsberg’s play ‘Jefferson & Adams’ (a historical fiction play about the lives of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Abigail Adams). During this project, we would also like to train a team of volunteers in creative skills which allow them to build experience in the fields of heritage conservation, research, marketing, publishing and stage management.
