#HP Schools and foster families – access to heritage
This project will help us to significantly improve access to heritage for schools and foster families in Torbay. Currently, many children in Torbay do not experience the heritage on their doorstep because schools, foster families and visit providers lack support, resources and knowledge. There is no coordinated approach to local history and heritage learning, and we don’t fully understand the barriers to access. This project will provide the evidence we need to give teachers the tools to integrate local heritage learning into the curriculum, support heritage sites to improve their visit offers, and better coordinate local history and heritage learning opportunities across the Bay. This is the first step towards ensuring all children in Torbay benefit from experiences that will impact positively on their development and in the long term lead to increased pride in, and care for, Torbay’s historic assets.
