Nature And Landscape

Humberhead Levels Community Outreach Project

Our partnership aims to address the climate and biodiversity crisis in the Doncaster-Humberhead region by accelerating nature recovery at a landscape-wide scale and connecting people to the unique environment that exists here. We are seeking to establish the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the North of England. To be successful a Biosphere must meet the needs of local people, whilst fostering a sense of ownership and pride within the community. This proposal outlines our 15-month outreach project. It’s designed to deepen our understanding of communities and raise awareness of our proposed Biosphere to inspire participation with our rich natural heritage. Central to the outreach project are communities that traditionally have limited connections with natural heritage, due to barriers in accessing the local environment and the accompanying benefits. Undertaking a comprehensive engagement programme ensures that these underserved groups remain at the heart of our work.
