Icons of Doncaster
The 'Icons of Doncaster' project will preserve local history as defined, decided, and celebrated by local people ensuring that the mosaic of Doncaster's heritage continues to thrive for generations to come. The project will ask local people to decide which people, places, achievements, and local legends (folklore) they believe should be celebrated as 'Icons of Doncaster’. People can participate in the project as casual participants or more sustained volunteers and a range of training opportunities will be available. The project will present local heritage via regularly scheduled radio features that will be broadcast via FM, DAB and Online. The project will also capitalise on a range of digital platforms to engage participants and inform people about the project and large scale publicly placed signage will be established at various locations across the borough featuring the highlighted aspects of local heritage explored through the project.
