Culture And Memory

IMAGINE

Our vision is to celebrate and increase awareness of the lives and heritage of the Global Majority community in Cornwall and showcase it alongside stories of other Cornish communities. There have been several story gathering projects in our locality of Redruth. These projects have brought to light stories of the community, buildings, important industrial mining heritage. But the stories of the Global Majority have been mostly overlooked. This project will bring together members of this community with children from local schools to explore this heritage in a meaningful and authentic way. The life stories of Global Majority individuals living in Cornwall will be voiced, recorded and exhibited alongside professional photographs of the participants. The legacy will be archived audio interviews from the Global Majority community and the foundations of intergenerational and inter cultural understanding between children and the older people upon which further projects can be built
