Culture And Memory
In Peace & Revolution: Learning from Our People's Past
Clydesider Creative CIC will bring to life West Dunbartonshire's proud heritage of community activism and raise awareness of the local people who championed positive change both for their communities and wider society. West Dunbartonshire is an area which has experienced decades of urban neglect resulting in high unemployment with the accompanying socio/economic and health impacts. The area has a strong tradition of campaigning and activism and, working with our volunteers and local community organisations, we will capture existing living memories and use varied creative participatory activities and multi-media formats to share this knowledge and stories with the wider community. This project aims to use learning from the past to encourage understanding of and interest in civic engagement and community activism to address problems faced by many in the area today. There will be a variety of interactive and informal learning opportunities throughout the project culminating in a Community Heritage Festival.
