Into the Woods: The Slade Camp Story

Our project will: (1) Involve communities in researching, recording and disseminating Slade Camp’s history. (2) Enable a wide range of people to experience and enjoy Slade Camp’s story on site, off site and online. We will achieve the following: Saving Heritage: (1) Slade Camp’s heritage is recorded, understood, shared and valued. (2) The story of a working-class community has a recognised place in Oxford’s history. Protecting the environment: (1) The site’s biodiversity is maintained. (2) The remains of Slade Camp’s historic gardens are preserved. Inclusion, access and participation: (1) Former residents and local communities research and disseminate Slade Camp’s heritage. (2) Slade Camp’s story is available for everyone to experience and enjoy, on site, off site and online. (3) Under-served communities can connect with nature and history on site. Organisational sustainability: (1) A partnership able to collaborate on future projects. (2) An engaged volunteer group is established.
