Investing in Incredible Invertebrates

Our project would promote the conservation and importance of invertebrates in Herefordshire. We want everyone to recognise the critical role that these organisms play in the ecosystem and celebrate the rare and common species that live in the county. We will utilise a team of volunteer recorders to survey for our lesser-known fauna in Sites of Special Scientific Interest, Local Nature Reserves and Important Invertebrate Areas. This would fill a gap of knowledge that is currently very poor. We would also encourage a wide range of people to discover invertebrates for themselves by recording wildlife in their gardens, running public bioblitzes in parks and outdoor spaces and engaging with schools, community groups and third sector organisations. We want to inspire and celebrate organisms that are unique to Herefordshire but also ubiquitous but important in pollination of crops, recycling of nutrients and sustaining healthy ecosystems.
