Justice and Change: A history of community organising and resistance told through the gathering and activation of a Brent Community Law Centre artifacts and contemporary response from the people and communities of Brent.

Justice and Change is a 2-year project designed to capture/foreground a 30-year history of community organising/resistance in Brent through the lens of the former Brent Community Law Centre (BCLC)-one of the first UK not-for-profit legal advice services for vulnerable/socially excluded Brent residents. Led by Metroland Cultures with BCLC founding members and connected residents, Asian Women’s Resource Centre, PLIAS Resettlement and No More Exclusions (both for YP at-risk of Criminal Justice System), Brent Museums & Archives, and On The Record - the project will unearth missing narratives covering BCLC cases and campaigns from 1971 -2001 and bring a fresh contemporary response. This will be achieved through gathering BCLC ephemera, 30 volunteers trained to capture 100 oral histories, exhibitions, new content by partners, a documentary film, educational resources, extensive talks, tours, listening sessions culminating in a digital repository and gifting of physical materials to the BMA for future accessioning.
