Culture And Memory
This exciting new project will explore the rich heritage of Bangladesh with a specific focus on the impact and experiences of the Bangladeshi diaspora in the historic town of Keighley. The primary objective of our project is to preserve and share this heritage, bringing people of many different backgrounds together in celebration, unearthing new perspectives and hidden talents. The project will engage 60 people via tasters and interactive workshop sessions to explore the music, poetry and art influenced by Bangladeshi folk traditions, enabling them to develop their own works, to be showcased as part of a Keighley Bangla Mela to be held during Bradford 2025, which aims to attract 500 attendees and at least 1000 visitors to a new website.
