#LC HEART. Heritage, Environment and Resilience Together

The Lake District World Heritage Site faces growing threats from climate change - flooding, biodiversity loss and rising temperatures are already putting its landscapes, traditions and global significance at risk. This project will deliver fast, practical action to tackle those risks head-on, whilst building a long-term strategy for climate resilience rooted in heritage and community. Led by LDF and delivered in partnership with LDNPA and established stakeholder networks, the project will combine research, engagement and on-the-ground delivery. Communities, landowners and existing groups will shape the response-informing a climate and action plan, contributing to the WHS interpretation plan and driving ten community-led pilot projects which focus on climate resilience and WHS interpretation. This is not just a response to climate change, it is a bold, place-based commitment to protect the Lake District’s Outstanding Universal Value, now and for the future. A powerful first step in a larger, landscape-scale connection.
