Learning from the Past: Giving to the Future

“Learning from the Past: Giving to the Future” celebrates the very best of our traditional crafts and sustainable, vernacular construction methods and offers them as a vital skill for the future. The climate and nature emergencies indicate urgent action is needed to ensure future generations have a healthy planet. Alongside the collapse in biodiversity and ecosystems from human behaviour, we are seeing a collapse in the use and knowledge of traditional crafts and skills which align with sustainable construction practices and the “green skills” economy which is a focus of Welsh and central governments. From traditional timber framing to use of natural plasters and heritage boundary maintenance this project will revive and reintegrate these skills with people who are the most impacted by climate change and nature collapse: the most deprived communities.
