Culture And Memory

Let's Make More History!

Over three years, we’ll explore the history of the Iceni and Iron Age tribes, the Romans, and the Anglo-Saxons in Norfolk, creating three exciting ‘horrible history’ style plays co-created with children aged 6-11. With support from the Norfolk Museums Service, we’ll design immersive learning experiences, including artefact handling workshops at Ancient House Museum in Thetford and Lynn Museum in Kings Lynn. We’ll also establish guided historical walks in both towns, connecting museums with performance venues. These walks, led by newly trained volunteers, will highlight archaeological sites and key historical moments, helping children place their learning in a real-world context. The project will enhance children’s historical understanding by reinforcing theoretical learning with practical experiences. It will make history accessible to schools unable to participate due to financial barriers and support SEN students or those with different learning needs by offering alternative, engaging, and immersive educational experiences that bring history to life.
