Industrial And Transport
Through this project we would like the heritage of the Linen Industry in the Bannside area of Ballymena, with a specific focus on Frazer & Haughton, Hillmount, Cullybackey, to be understood and the extreme importance this industry had for this area. We will be improving the understanding of the linen industry by an oral history project with those connected to the factory, collecting and recording this and other memorabilia and ensuring the information is shared as widely as possible to all. We will also work with the Frazer family to preserve surplus material from the original factory to use to demonstrate the linen process and turn the material into new products. This will be done through working with Arthur Cottage (demonstrations) and sewing classes to produce products for use in planned exhibitions.
