'Little Moscow' remembered - our history, our heritage

Our vision is to commemorate the centenary of the 1925 Chopwell Lockout. Working with a wide variety of local groups and organisations, and creating outputs such as oral histories, exhibitions, creative performances and workshops, digital media productions, and educational activities, we aim to engage people of all ages and of diverse backgrounds from our rural community in exploring this important bit of political history, and pivotal moment of solidarity and resilience. By integrating arts, crafts, performance music, digital storytelling, and community-led initiatives, we will ensure that the legacy of the lockout is made accessible and relevant for all generations - including future ones - in our community. This project will not only preserve our history but also strengthen community bonds, celebrate our collective identity, and inspire pride in Chopwell’s rich heritage.
