Living Vital aims to reinvent how communities preserve and share heritage knowledge by creating an inclusive therapeutic space where traditional wisdom meets contemporary wellbeing needs. We envision transforming lives through nature-based heritage practices that honour diverse cultural traditions while building resilient community connections. Our vision is to expand our already thriving community garden where refugees, LGBTQ+ individuals, those experiencing mental health challenges, and local residents unite to preserve endangered plant varieties, master traditional growing techniques, and share ancestral knowledge. We demonstrate that heritage preservation thrives through diversity - from drought-adapted techniques brought by refugees to local Sussex traditions. We aim to rebuild essential community bonds that once sustained societies through mutual support and collective land stewardship. By integrating therapeutic interventions with hands-on heritage skills like organic growing, cob oven building and woodworking, we're creating new models of community resilience that address modern challenges while honouring timeless wisdom for future generations.
