London Pride Community Heritage Project

The London Pride Community Heritage Project is an exciting new project capturing the story of how London Pride began. During this six-month free community project, we will work with the Bishopsgate Institute and the National Archives. The project will be open to approximately 15-20 participants who will be invited to a weekly workshop. Using performance techniques, visits, and research we will develop an understanding of the story of London Pride. Why it began? Who were the key figures? What challenges did they face? The impact it has had upon our community today. We will create opportunities to develop historical enquiry skills using artefacts and archives and learning to ask questions and use museums as explorers whilst bringing to life real stories told by real people. We will then apply what we have learnt to devising a small performance and educational resources to share for free to the local community.
