‘Londoni Memoirs’ is an audio-visual collection of portraits, curated ephemera, artifacts, heirlooms and video-interviews of Bangladeshi migrants from 1950s-70s, documenting the untold story of their exodus from genocide during the 1971 liberation war and watching their motherland’s independence from afar while making UK home. It will illuminate to wider audiences, the effects of immigration on individuals arriving and host country communities. Project leads to a 4-week exhibition to engage: 10 migrant participants sharing their experience 700 exhibition visitors/audience 30 school students 9 artists/practitioners, including curator, photographers, filmmakers, delivering project 3 early-career artists/practitioners gaining valuable project-experience 4 volunteers supporting installation, opening-night and workshops 30 people from multi-generational families engaging in heritage workshops mid-exhibition, sharing archives/recordings of their immigration history for curation into our online collection. 7,165 online engagement through collaborative professional-organisations The exhibition will lead to capital-works of an online repository and future UK-tour targeting cities with low cultural engagement.
