Our diverse community of ‘Baby Boomers’ will use their lived experience and creativity to revitalise Tameside’s community performance heritage, including music and dance halls, parades, banner walks and song, at risk of being lost as this generation ages. Working with Tameside Local Studies and Archives, Portland Basin Museum and Tameside History Forum networks, participants will develop and apply heritage skills through shared storytelling, archive engagement and creative practice. We will support people facing barriers to access and participation, including older adults, those experiencing mental health challenges and adults with learning disabilities, building confidence, skills and connection to local heritage. These skills will safeguard this heritage and refresh volunteer pathways into partner organisations. Together, participants will create enjoyable, accessible digital stories for children and families, shared through our platforms and preserved within local archives, supporting engagement with Tameside’s future as a Heritage Place.
