Maps and Memories: Exploring how Ireland’s Ordnance Survey Shaped our Landscapes and Lives

Through our partnership with Ordnance Survey, QUB, National Trust, and Historic Environment Division, we aim to celebrate and preserve the cultural significance of the OSNI mapping project. By engaging diverse audiences through workshops, talks, exhibitions, and digital resources, the project will connect communities with their local histories, fostering understanding of Northern Ireland’s geographical and social evolution. The project will capture oral histories, promote the heritage of trig points with HED, and explore the future of mapping in NI. Events will include hands-on workshops, such as landscape surveys or recording OS monuments in the local environment.It will inspire future generations, building skills in geography and cartography while strengthening community bonds. Lasting partnerships with schools, libraries, and cultural institutions will ensure continued access to this heritage.
