‘Marmite Housing’ - Memories of Glasgow’s Postwar Housing Developments’

Glasgow Story Collective is volunteer-led with a proven track record of delivering community-based heritage projects. We engage with local people, mostly in economically deprived and socially diverse communities, to learn what is important to them in terms of their heritage. It is important to us that our participants feel appreciated, included, heard, and that they receive opportunities to engage with others and enhance their mental wellbeing and life-chances. In recording, preserving and sharing lived-experiences of Glasgow's tenements and housing schemes, this proposed project will also capture fundamental aspects of Glasgow’s heritage that effected many thousands of individuals, families, communities, and for some, aspirations and life-outcomes. Together, we will record our collective past and create relevant and viable heritage outputs that best engage the public and deliver much needed transferable skills training and experiences, whilst promoting inter-generational exchange and social and cultural cooperation.
