Culture And Memory

Memories of Living Well Together

Leicester is long overdue a sensible conversation about migration. Our project, “Memories of Living Well Together,” will make a significant contribution to that conversation, through preserving and sharing the recollections and experiences of some of Leicester’s diverse community, both long-term residents and migrants to the City. We will record the memories of 100 migrants to and long-term residents of Leicester to create a more rounded picture of the history of Leicester's diversity. We will produce digital resources for primary and secondary teachers to use in Religious Education, Citizenship and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) lessons, as well as feeding into the work of the local SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education). We will produce digital and physical resources for use by EMOHA (East Midlands Oral History Archive), the University of Leicester, Leicester Museum Services and Leicester Cathedral. We will reach over 80,000 people through this project.
