Nature And Landscape
Mount Edgcumbe Country Park (MECP) is a Grade I Registered Park & Garden, enjoyed by around 250,000 people each year (2014), supporting 19 businesses, 14 direct employees and volunteers. Like many large Estates and Country Parks, MECP is looking to balance the management of a diverse range of designated and undesignated heritage features and habitats with a popular, well-loved attraction for locals and visitors. We have over the last five years focused investment in MECP on income generation opportunities to build financial resilience and reduce dependence on both local authorities. This has seen a number of buildings restored, repurposed and let to a variety of tenants, alongside a popular events programme throughout the year, increasing footfall and visitor spend. We are now looking to commission a Conservation Management Plan to prioritise investment over the next 10 years and to look towards 2050 in terms of climate adaptation and nature recovery.
