Culture And Memory
Through this project, our organisation aims to preserve and celebrate the heritage of South Asian elders living with mild cognitive impairment and dementia by capturing their life stories before they are lost. We want to ensure their experiences of migration, community building, faith, family and cultural identity are recognised. it will make heritage more inclusive by working with people who are often overlooked due to age, language barriers or dementia. We will be working with them in culturally sensitive ways, we want to strengthen trust with South Asian communities and improve access to heritage activities. it will help us develop stronger community partnerships, with new groups, build staff and volunteer skills in oral history and dementia-friendly practice, and create sustainable resources that can be used in future programmes. Ultimately, we hope to inspire greater understanding, reduce stigma, and ensure diverse voices are represented in our shared heritage.
