#Natur Hwb y Gors Community Garden

Awel Aman Tawe (AAT) has refurbished the former Cwmgors primary school into a low-carbon community hub: Hwb y Gors (HyG). We are now seeking to develop the former school playground into a green community space with a focus on biodiversity, positive mental health, food growing and wildlife habitats. The remit of HyG is underpinned by the Circular Economy, the Environment Act and the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act and will serve the region in terms of building firm foundations for the Green Economy. The external development of the site is integral to the Hwb as a whole. Working with Robert Bray Associates, we have developed a Sustainable Drainage masterplan that will repurpose and return a large piece of tarmacked land into a nature-based landscape to i) reduce flooding and erosion, ii) create diverse and environmentally-friendly habitats supporting native species and iii) create spaces for community recreation, education, volunteering and play.
