Navigate StourPort will enable Stourport Forward to make the heritage of our unique and historic Georgian town more accessible and engaging for those within our community and the wider area. Stourport is situated at the River Severn terminus of the Staffordshire & Worcester Canal. Stourport Forward was initially formed in 1997 to oversee the restoration of the historic Georgian canal basins, leading to the award of Heritage Inland Port Status in 2023. With Navigate StourPort, we want to protect and preserve the town’s heritage for future generations. This will be achieved by increasing awareness of and engagement with our heritage assets through the development of workshops, activities, innovative interpretation tools and volunteering opportunities. This will enable us to develop sustainable income streams to support ongoing preservation of our heritage assets. By achieving increased engagement, we anticipate increased local commitment to and resources for preserving Stourport’s rich heritage for future generations.
