#NTC Belfast: Breaking through Barriers to Connect People and Nature

Focussing on removing the barriers to nature’s recovery and access to nature in urban settlements, this project aims to put systems in place to make Belfast a nature-rich, thriving city, where urban green spaces are key community assets for wellbeing, connecting people and nature, and helping the city adapt to climate change. Urban landscapes can be rich in wildlife, helping nature recover, while providing a myriad of benefits to people, especially health and wellbeing, close to where they live. Good quality green and blue spaces are the basis of thriving urban wildlife but we know their provision is below average and unevenly distributed in Belfast. To mainstream and maximise nature recovery for the Belfast region, strategic, confident, innovative and well-informed decision-making is required, to have more, bigger and more connected nature rich green spaces across Belfast and its hinterland.
